Welcome volunteers! DL00p001.gif - DL00p010.gif --> preface.txt DL01p004 - DL01p063 (need volunteer, email me.) DL02p064 - DL02p124 (need volunteer, email me.) DL03p125 - DL03p213 (need volunteer, email me.) DL03p214 - DL03p289 (need volunteer, email me.) DL04p290 - DL04p345 (need volunteer, email me.) DL05p346 - DL05p378 (need volunteer, email me.) Example with footnotes & Greek: DL00p001.tif - DL00p010.tif --> preface.txt footnote reference is like this: 1 Note that the Greek is not quite correct as the font is not the SPIonic, but the common Symbols FONT. (There is not much Greek.) See: http://xplor.csb.yale.edu/misc/greek.html Hints: low resolution .gif files are in the gif directory. If a file is not legible, try viewing the .tif version with a helper app. like Lviewpro. I expect that the minimum number of pages that I will assign to a volunteer will be about 40 or so. This is not so much if an OCR program is used to convert the .tif file to some form of text file. Most of the actual work is the proofreading and editing the text to fit my example format. In preparing the examples, I have used an OCR program (TextBridgePro) to output DOS txt that I edit using notepad. It probably makes more sense to feed the results of the OCR to a wordprocessor for spell checking, or use the HTML editor features of Netscape Gold. Later the HTMLish text will get converted to .rtf.... Please check this Read.me file from time to time as I will update it as I make progress. I hope to start assigning page blocks to volunteers soon. Thank you all for the favorable responses I have received so far. --John Gross
