SINLESSNESS OF MARY

BASIC R.C. BELIEF

An attribute that some accorded Mary from about the 5th century, but wasn't

accepted by a number of theologians. After the definition of the Immaculate

Conception, Mary's sinlessness became universally accepted.

Its scriptural basis is Luke 1:28 mis-translated "full of grace."

CHRISTIAN COMMENT

The Greek word in Luke 1:28 (charitoo) speaks of grace being given, not

grace as an inherent quality. The KJV is the correct translation.
