LOOK OVER IN CANAAN BB-25-4A

(Second in a series of three)

FRUIT FROM THE PROMISED LAND

(Numbers 13:20, 1-3, 17-25)

INTRODUCTION

A. Twelve spies were sent out

1. They were blessed men

2. They were leaders of the congregation

3. They were given an opportunity to witness of God's power

B. They were to bring fruit from the promised land (new)

I. "SEE THE LAND, WHAT IT IS" (v.18)

A. Fat or lean (provision of crops & food)

1. One cluster of grapes took two men to carry

2. Pomegranates & figs were everywhere

3. Blessings and provisions are there for the taking

B. Whether wood or not (used for heat & building)

1. The staff that they bore the grapes on proved wood

2. They could rest assured that God was telling the truth

C. Heaven is "an exceeding good land"

1. It too, has sufficient food for us

2. The Lamb is the light thereof and we need no sun, heat

3. Every need of the inhabitants will be supplied

II. "WHAT [ARE]... THE PEOPLE THAT DWELLETH THEREIN" (v. 18)

A. Strong or weak, few or many

1. They were giants of men

2. They were on the land, in the mountains, & by the sea

B. Good or bad, tents or strongholds

1. The cities are walled, and very great

2. The children of Anak are there

lll. "BE OF GOOD COURAGE AND BRING OF THE FRUIT OF THE LAND" (v. 20)

A. The Church has been instructed to "see the land, and the

people, of HEAVEN" (& show the fruit to others)

B. What kind of fruit have you been showing the world?

CONCLUSION

A. THE SPIES WERE TO BRING BACK FRUIT FROM THE PROMISED LAND

B. They brougth back some good fruit and a bad testimony

C. The result was that Israel was determined to return (14:4)

D. Will sinners want to go to Heaven after seeing YOUR FRUIT?

E. Let us show the good fruit from Heaven
