THANKSGIVING PRAYERS OF FREEDOM

Our Heavenly Father:

It is indeed a privilege to stand here today and speak to you

openly and without fear.

It is by your supreme grace and mercy that we enjoy such a regal

honor. Your love has provided the means for each of us to enjoy

blessings beyond human imagination.

However, multitudes of humanity have lived and died upon this

earth and never experienced the freedom to speak in open

assembly of their love for you.

It is not without cost that we enjoy OUR present freedom.

Others, before us, have paid the ultimate price to buy for us

the liberties of this great country in which we live.

They have followed the example of Jesus who GAVE His life so

that others might have a more abundant life.

Your Word directs us to "give everyone what [we] owe him"

whether that be taxes, respect, or honor, we should not let our

debts go unpaid. Therefore, today, we are gathered here to

offer the respect and honor due to the unsung heroes of our

nation.

Although we may not know their individual names, I am certain

that you have precise records of every act of courage that has

ever been performed for the love of God and fellowman. Although

we can only honor the collective acts of these self-less people,

you will reward every act individually.

Help us today to set our hearts and our minds to the proper

recognition of those who have paid heavily for the freedom that

we enjoy today.

Guide each phase of this celebration of their courageous acts.

We ask these things in the Lovely Name of our Saviour, Jesus

Christ.

AMEM.

Dear Lord:

We thank you for the sacrifices that have been made which allow

us the freedoms that we enjoy today.

Thank you for the death of your Son Jesus on the cross that we

might be free from the bondage of sin.

Thank you for the many courageous deeds which our brothers and

sisters have performed in their attempts to secure and retain

our God-given rights.

Thank you for the rights of FREE ASSEMBLY & RELIGIOUS LIBERTY.

Thank you for all of the rights which we, as Americans, often

take for granted but which MANY in the world today hold so

sacred that they will give their lives in defense of them.

Thank you for all of the loyal Americans before us who were

like-minded in their appreciation of these rights and were

willing to do their part to assure that such rights are NEVER

denied.

Give us the moral courage to join them.

Whether we meet the aggressor in physical battle or whether we

defeat him in lawful elections, we commit ourselves to the task

of assuring that our children (and their children, should you

tarry) will also enjoy the rights of a free America.

By your grace, we are assured of the victory!

In Christ's Holy Name,

AMEM.
