BASIC R.C. BELIEF

The translation used exclusively among English speaking Roman Catholics for

centuries; more correctly called Douay-Rheims. The Old Testament was

published at Douay, France in 1609 and the New Testament in Rheims, France

in 1582. It was a translation at Jerome's Latin Vulgate.

POST VATICAN II

It has been largely replaced by the Confraternity New Testament (a

revision), and more recently by a number of new translations.
