CLEAN HANDS

II Sam. 22:21-25

(Words of David after his deliverance from king Saul)

C.T.: God's judgement is imminent and severe therefore we must

seek cleansing from God to be prepared

INTRODUCTION:

A. Next event is the Rapture

1. The Rapture will be for the QUALIFIED (ready)

2. The Rapture will be QUIET (no special warning)

3. The Rapture will be QUICK (in span & moment)

B. Compare time of Rapture with time of Noah

1. Preacher warned of coming flood

2. They "knew not" (Mt. 24:39)

3. The "waters prevailed" (Gen. 7:18)

I. CLEAN HANDS ARE NOT ACQUIRED BY WORKS

A. God does judge the quality of our lives

1. Heb. 12:14, "Follow peace with all men, and holiness,

without which no man shall see the Lord."

2. 1 Pet. 1:16, "Be ye holy; for I am holy."

3. Rev. 22:12, "Behold, I come quickly, and my reward is

with me, to give every man according as his works

shall be."

B. God has commanded works

1. Mt. 9:37, "The harvest truly is plenteous"

2. V. 37, "The laborers are few"

3. V. 38, "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,

that he will send forth laborers into his harvest."

C. Our hands become unclean with the blood of others

D. Ro. 3:20, "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall

no flesh be justified in his sight"

II. CLEAN HANDS REQUIRE THAT WE JUDGE OURSELVES

A. 1 Pet. 4:17, "For the time is come that judgment must

begin at the house of God"

B. 1 Cor. 11:31, "For if we would judge ourselves, we

should not be judged, we are chastened of the Lord,

that we should not be condemned with the world.

C. Ps. 139:23,24, "Search me, O God, and know my heart:

try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any

wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

D. We tend to want to judge others first
