HABAKKUK 2:5-8

THE ANSWER TO INJUSTICE

INTRODUCTION:

A. Habakkuk had seen violence as universal

B. Judgement had seemed perverted

C. It seemed that the wicked always prevailed over the righteous

I. SINNERS MAY EVANGELIZE THE WORLD (v. 5)

A. Not for Jesus Christ--If that gets done, we will do it!

B. Why do sinners encourage others to sin?

1. Are children of alcoholics more or less prone to drink?

2. How does a child know that it is wrong to steal?

II. IS THERE NO HONOR AMONG THIEVES? (v. 6)

A. Are some non-Christians morally sound?

B. Who could you trust to keep a secret? Would you kiss & tell?

C. Who laughs with you when you are happy (cries when you hurt)

D. Can you trust non-Christians in business deals?

III. THICK CLAY IS A STICKY SUBJECT (vv. 6-7)

A. Would you co-sign a note for your neighbor?

1. If he were not a Christian...

2. If he was a Christian...

B. "Thick clay" means "pledges"

1. Is "credit" a sin?

2. Should one assist someone else in getting credit?

IV. "EVERY DOG HAS HIS DAY" (v. 8)
